The University of Waterloo provides a variety of job opportunities for students while studying at the school, I currently have a job with UW Food Services, catering food to students from all over campus. I work at the residence called Village 1 inside the Cafeteria where students usually eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or for a quick snack. The atmosphere working here is very comforting because of the familiarity of being around other students.

Responsible for preparing food for subsequent breakfast, lunch, or dinner hours.

Entitled to serving buffet style meals to students in a reoccuring line up. This gives me the ability to work in a fast pace environment where problem solving is thought of quickly.

Maintain a clean and organized area at each station in a familiar setting for all employees.

Undertake each station during a swift when needed to switch. Through this, I have learned how to multitask in an organized manner.

Cook certain meals for students such as: soup, sandwiches, burgers, pasta, etc. Learned how to problem solve at a fast pace due the the amount of students in line waiting for food.

Concern for the health and safety of students while preparing their food. Must make sure everything is sanitary.
Playball
Playball is an international company that provides first skills development programs for young children ages 2-8 years old. These programs help children develop a variety of skills through different active sports. Children gain great confidence, independence, and discipline through participating in an energetic environment with other children around their age. This job was a seasonal summer job for me, where the sport taught for the season was soccer.

Accountable for coaching children ages 2-6 during their specific class times. Each class would be 45 minutes long, and my set shifts included 3 classes a day: Class 1 (2 years old), Class 2 (3-4 years old), Class 3 (5-6 years old).

Displayed a positive and energetic attitude throughout each class so the children felt more comfortable with participating.

Demonstrated the basics techniques of playing soccer. Used different equipment, such as; bean bags, hoola hoops, and soccer balls, to help them better understand the concept of soccer.

Ensured the heath & safety of each child, which required keeping a careful eye on each child while they participated in each activity. Through this I learned how to stay entirely focused while coaching.

St. George Banquet Hall
St. George Banquet Hall is a highly sofisticated work environment where working at a fast pace in a formal manner is essential for the job. The job provided me with many long lasting skills that I now put to everyday use. I've gained time management skills, organizationals skills, and great teamworking skills. Having to work long hours because of events, such as weddings, ending very late, proved to me how difficult it is to work irregular shifts.

Set up banquet hall tables and chairs based on the preference of the event host.

Contributed to helping cooks prepare food by getting them set up onto each plate in an elaborate positioning.

Responsible for serving each table their appetizers, main course, desserts, and beverages.

Capability for carrying heavy trays of five or six plates among them.

Accountable for making sure finished dishes get taken back into kitchen and put into the dish washing section.

Evaluate that guests enjoy the service by making sure I kept a positive attitude, so that they enjoyed their evening.
Fickle Pickle
Fickle Pickle is a family owned restaurant located in a small town called Stouffville. The restaurant is famous for their breakfast meals, which most customers come for on the weekends. Through working here I demonstrated high levels of efficiency, initiative, and enthusiasm. Although working here has no relevance with my career path, it was a great experience and I gained strong skills from being an employee here.

Excelled at greeting customers and selecting a seating area for them, depending on the seating arrangements for each waitress/waiter.

Responsible for a customers first impression of the restaurant which meant keeping a positive attitude and giving them a warm welcoming into the restaurant.

Regulate all items by making sure they're stocked, such as continuously refilling the sauces, salts & peppers, and sugars on each table.

RE/MAX
RE/MAX is an international real estate company that is based off of a franchise system. The company runs through thousands of agents operating their own real estate sales. In my short period of time working here I worked at the front desk and as a graphic designer. Although I worked here for a short period of time I did gain some excellant organizational skills.

Ampluso International
Ampluso International is a small business that owns land all over the world, such as Belize, that build property such as bungalows and rent them out to locals or anyone in need of a place to stay. The business asked me to create a website for them to broadcast their property in Belize called Hummingbird Homes.

Used my creative abilities for designing and creating a website, with a small group of 5 people, that would showcase Ampluso Internationals homes in Belize.

Need for staying organized and managing my time well to meet the set deadlines for certain pages within the website. In total , the process of creating the website took about four months.

Entitle to continuously meet with the owners of the business to make sure they agreed with each section I created for their website.
Sew Be It Studio
Sew Be It Studio is a unique place of learning where people of all ages use their creativity of fashion design through sewing clothing, stuffed animals, or whatever your mind comes to. I worked there during the summer of 2013 as an assistant to the teachers for the classes from ages 5-8 years old. Working here was a fun experience because fashion/sewing is one of my hobbies, as well as something I would like to pursue as a career in the near future.

Responsible for helping teachers assist the kids with their sewing, making sure they were following each step in the proper order from the instructions, and rephrasing each step to them if they didn't understand what to do.

Great concern for keeping environment clean by making sure there wasn't extra fabric pieces laying around on the floor for people to trip on.

Promote the safety of children when sewing because of the use of sharp objects such as scissors and needles.

Secured a positive attitude to make sure each student was having fun and enjoying the pieces they were making.

Assigned to making sure each student using their creative minds.

The studio also provided a small area at the front where fabrics, thread, and other sewing materials were sold to the public. I was responsible for assisting customers if they ever needed help finding a certain item the were in search for.
